This actress always wanted to do a number of things in life and when she was five she also wanted to be the Queen of England. Now that is interesting. Bethany Joy was born to Robert Lenz, a history teacher and therapist, and Cathie, a personnel manager and entrepreneur. Right from the age of three the actress has been performing on stage. Her first solo performance was in front of an audience of three thousand people where she sang a song. At the age of four the Bethany had decided that she wanted to be an actor and started preparing for her journey from then on. By the time she was ten she had already performed on stage and done a soliloquy too, where her performance was appreciated a lot.

At the age of ten Bethany started her professional acting career with theater when she got the role of Scout in ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’. After her this performance she did roles in plays like ‘Annie’, ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Gypsy: A Musical Fable.’ At the age of thirteen she moved to New Jersey with her parents, where she changed her name from Joy Lenz to Joie Lenz. At school she continued performing for theater and at the age of seventeen she made her first television appearance in soap opera ‘Guiding Light’, which is also one of her most popular roles to date. Her other most famous television role is of Haley James on ‘One Tree Hill.’ In the series she plays youngest daughter Jimmy and Lydia James. In the first season she marries Nathan Scott and is best friends with her brother-in-law, Lucas Scott. Later in the series she pursues a career in singing. She has made guest appearances on television shows like ‘Off-Centre’, ‘Charmed’, ‘Felicity’, ‘Maybe It’s Me’ and ‘The Guardian’.

Besides television, Bethany has also worked in a number of movies. Her first independent movie was ‘The End Of August’. Other movies that she has worked in are ‘Bring It On Again’, ‘I Love You, I Love You Not’, ‘Thinner’ and Psalty: kids’. Music has always been a passion for this actress and till date she has recorded two independent records by the name ‘Preincarnate’ and ‘Come On Home’. Bethany has also recorded number of songs for ‘One Tree Hill’ tv show.

As far as her personal life is concerned, the actress married ‘Enation’ band member Michael Galeotti in 2005. When the actress is not shooting for One Tree Hill, she comes down to Battle Ground, Washington, where she stays with her husband. Apart from theatre, acting and music, Bethany has recently directed an episode of ‘One Tree Hill’. In her free time Bethany enjoys photography, painting, cooking, and horseback riding.
