Right from his childhood, Craig knew that he wanted to be an actor. So right after completing his graduation from York Suburban Senior High School he shifted to New York City. While at New York nothing was easy for him, he had to struggle a lot including sleeping on railway stations. But soon afterwards he hired an agent for himself and started his acting career with acting in commercials.
In 1983, he got his first television assignment which was with daytime soap opera ‘One Life to Live’. Same year he got another role as the son of Michael Goodwin and Leigh Taylor-Young on the series, ‘The Hamptons.’ With this he moved on to films and has appeared in good number of films. The movie that he began his big screen career was with ‘That Was Then... This Is Now’. The movies that came thereafter were ‘Fire with Fire’ and ‘Some Kind of Wonderful.’ The films that got him recognition and acted as turning point in his career were ‘Nightbreed’, ‘A River Runs Through It’ and ‘The Program.’ Other movies that he has worked in are ‘Fire in the Sky’, ‘Head Above Water’, ‘Bliss’, and ‘Sleep With Me’.

In 2003 he was chosen for the role of Keith Scott, in One Tree Hill. In the series he plays elder brother to arrogant, wealthy Dan Scott and accepts his ex-girlfriend and her child whom Dan had left. In the series he is no longer alive as he was killed by his brother Dan.
Apart from this, we have also seen him in ‘The Long Lost Son.’ Most recently Craig has directed a movie by the name ‘American Crude’.
Coming to his personal life, Craig has a daughter named Willow Anwar with Gabrielle Anwar and he loves to spend time with her. Craig’s hobbies are photography, writing, and being outdoors and he has a passion for music. Craig enjoys writing songs and playing the guitar.
